El Morro
El Morro, officially Castillo San Felipe del Morro, is a 16th-century fortress built to protect San Juan from sea attacks. Perched dramatically above the Atlantic, its massive stone walls, iconic garitas, and six levels of defenses once guarded Puerto Rico from pirates and invading fleets. Visitors can explore underground tunnels, dungeons, and expansive grounds while taking in panoramic ocean views. Today, El Morro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic landmarks in the Caribbean.
