Renowned as the largest Spanish fort built in the Western Hemisphere, Castillo San Cristobal is a San Juan National Historic Site. Set on over 27 acres and rising 150 feet above sea level, the fort features amazing views of the city, El Morro and the piers. Also called the Saint Christopher Castle, this amazing fortress guarded the east of Old San Juan and was instrumental in repelling the invasion of Sir Ralph Abercrombie in 1797.

How long does it take to tour the fort?
Visitors should allow about two hours for a ranger led tour of the fort. If you prefer to explore at your own pace, you many spend several hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen.
What can I expect when visiting?
Castillo San Cristobal is very large with beautiful vistas. Expect a lot of walking, so be sure to wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. You’ll also find plenty of rest and drink areas and a gift shop.
